Apparently its a major issue according to many on this site. I wonder if they'd see it the same way if Covid had hit when Obama was President and he was the one telling people not to wear a mask and holding big indoor rallies while Republican governors were the ones telling people they had to wear a mask?

I agree that by now there shouldn't be a need for emergency powers by a governor because the state legislatures should be willing to work with the governors to enact regulations that will help reduce the spread of Covid even if they don't necessarily agree with them. But when every single issue is being used as a tool to gain political advantage then it's unlikely anything would get passed. Like it or not, somebody has to take responsibility when there's a public health crisis and at the state level that falls on the Governor.
