Southern MN | Am kind of surprised no other area seem to do it like MN does from the posts above by allocating more costs to those who need it the most. When the state started doing it I know we were unhappy also but it makes sense when you think about. 1 parcel in a watershed sits a lot of water. Farm is sold and sells cheaply because of its reputation as being wet and sitting water. Owner is able to push for a new system and ends up with the best farm in the drainage system with everyone having to pay an equal share to drain his farm. The way it is done here if you have the large hole that sits the most water you will pay a higher percentage of the cost of the system. | |
