Much of this had to do with multi billion dollar companies giving their IP away so they could manufacture their goods there for cheap and also have the privilege of selling in that market as well.
No, very little had to do with giving away IP. Much had to do with IP being stolen from companies who never set foot in China. Along with countless other competitive advantages.
