I would say the response to covid has been pretty effective considering that 1/20th of 1% of our citizens have died. If the idiots in New York wouldn't have made the decision to try to confine it in nursing homes the death toll would be much lower.
It is really up to the citizens to make choices regarding their health, not the federal government. Especially those who are most at risk.
