Deep southern Illinois | 2 quarts of gramoxone in spring, light on fire 48 hours later burning into the wind (fire moves slower and takes more) run a harrow or something over it to spread out drifts of ash and knock down small mole burrows and etc. then plant beans right behind it. Spray with a quart and a half of roundup and a residual 5 days after planting for the severe onset of grass that’s coming. The grass will beat the beans out of the ground.
