SE IL | The problem Joe is you are to hung up on yields corresponding to planting date, it just aint so. By far the largest majority of yield is determined by weather. There were some posters on here from Dakotas that had 200+ June corn. It can be done. The math works something like this: Yield potential for corn is well north of 400bpa but we use that in the example. A 25% penalty for late planting doesnt mean its 25% off your aph, its 25% off your POTENTIAL. Which is still 300bpa. Now that gives you less wiggle room to end up at 220, 270 or whatever. So later planting increases the odds of lower yields but by no means guarantees it------anywhere in the corn belt. | |
