SE IL | Around here a fellow by the name of George McKibben started working on no till in the 1960's at Dixon Springs, IL (a University of Illinois experiment station) as a way to conserve soil. We were double cropping in the late 60's. It was a much harder endeavor back then. Just didn't have the equipment that we have today. The AC no till planter was the standard everything else was judged against. Trash flow clearance was the biggest problem followed by ability to cut through the straw.
