Subject: Orign of the Idea to Double Crop Soybeans

West Central Missouri
I am writing a paper over a wheat - soybean double crop system. Does anyone have any knowledge on when and where this practice started or became popular? I realize this might go back a long time ago. Are there any good professional sources on this topic, such as any specific journal articles? I want to understand the practices for not only double crop, but also full season soybeans. Does anyone recommend any books in general to read over the topic? The paper focuses on other aspects of the system, however, I want a good background for the main topic. I have grown up around soybeans, I just want to increase my knowledge of the history behind them and when they became more popular to grow.

TIA
