Denmark | Hmm. Things have changed in the US since I worked in Cal.
In 1963 we were not sure whether there was gas or not in the equipment when we checked in in the morning. We were a couple guys sleeping out close to the equipment one night hoping to catch whoever sucked the tanks dry. They did not come that night or maybe we snored too loud.
One farmer in that area got so tired of it he switched to diesel powered equipment, -and one morning after there were a couple stalled cars not too far away.
Another thing from back then. There was this car dealer in Sacramento who had several new pickups in a line along the curb. One morning when the employees checked in they noticed all the pickups were sitting nose-high. Turned out they had the engines stolen out of them overnight.
But that is a long time ago now and it must be nice to live in a thief free country these days. I bet there are not too many of them in the world. | |
