There a bunch of different types of magnesium supplement. Magnesium citrate can also have a laxative effect. Any of them can in a large enough dose. The wheat belly guy (name escapes me right now) recommends using milk of magnesia mixed in carbonated water. Magnesium threonate is supposed to be able to penetrate the blood brain barrier. Magnesium glysonate (sp) tastes like crap. Better to take it in pill form for that reason. We have experimented with several forms of magnesium. Don't know if we need it or not but several doctors say about half the population is deficient. We take potassium citrate. Buy it from bulk supplements. You can also use NoSalt or LowSalt from the grocery store. Seems like it might be potassium sulfate but not sure. We used the low salt while in Bonaire in the winter for potassium because it is easy to come by down there. Use the milk of magnesia and soda water for the magnesium. Take about a 1/3 dose from what the bottle recommends for stomach issues. John |
