Southern Oregon | I thought the agtalk crowd might enjoy some piggy pictures from the western part of the country. I'm normally just a cattle rancher, but now I can add pig farmer to my resume. :) These pigs are mostly destined to be sold as half and whole pigs through a local meat processor. It's been a fun adventure so far, as combined we know almost nothing about pigs beyond fair pig knowledge. Fortunately a friend told us about the bucket trick and that was invaluable knowledge to unload a truckload of very stubborn piggies. It's fascinating to me how much they love their mud hole and how they will stick their heads entirely underwater in their water trough and blow bubbles. They are way nicer to handle than fair pigs. Our processor was also very impressed with how nice they looked compared to fair pigs. I'm very glad that it's not a train wreck and everything is going well.
