Second that. It amazes me how they instantly know how to adapt to mud and outside even though those hogs had probably never even seen the sunshine. As a hog farmer myself I think We do a horrible job caring for swine in this country. And the vertical integration of the hog industry is what has us in this mess to begin with. But that’s all I’ll say about it.


When you're done with Ross' question, then you can answer mine. Your comment about hog care is interesting, let's say. How would you propose to put data behind that opinion? Like for example measuring an animals stress by it's ADG? or another metric? If you put data behind it, we are doing a very good job of how we treat our animals. Pictures of hogs in the sun and mud in temperate Colorado are great. What about -20 F (not counting wind chill), frozen waterers, feet, etc., many pigs dying from piling onto each other, etc. Been there, have no desire to go back. I suppose we could just raise all the hogs in the summer, but good luck finding slaughter plant capacity under that plan.
