N FLA | I keep reading about operations, particularly cattle, getting flushed out and never return. And the big guys, the survivors, not even having the money to step in and take them.
Getting started in 2013, I'm one of those bad timing, all hat, no cattle wannabes that the real cattleman poke fun of. But I sure thought if you don't get started you'll never get started.
Anyway, I just question everyday if I'm one of those that gets flushed out. Seems like I'm the right demographic. I watched the last 2 years and kept thinking these cows are productive, breeding back, hang in a year and sell these old cows on a higher market. Then the next year, then this year I thought was the year maybe could hit a lick. My gut says things will be better in June and July, but my head says man I may not have anything of any value to sell this year. A cow and her big calf for $600 doesn't seem like it's going to work. Just kind of sad having all this uncertainty.
Very fortunate to have a full time job and spouse that works. | |
