The money supply is all dollars represented. So everyone's 401k that has taken a poop is that many less dollars. Lower crude devaluing those assets is less dollars etc. The money supply has had a massive contraction, it isn't all about the fed. Loans are a pure form of money expansion, stocks are money expansion. The fed/gov creating 10 trillion is nothing if all other assets have fallen 30 trillion in value(just throwing numbers out there).
Inflation is the amount of dollars competing for goods. If I had a million in stocks and now only have 600k I have less dollars to compete against you for that land.
