Apparently you lack a fundamental understanding of how asset values work. If I own a 160 and it’s worth 10k/ac and 2 years later it is only worth 8k/ac that 320k has disappeared. There was no exchange for someone else to “sell”. If I have a million in equities and now it is only worth 600k that money disappeared. Someone else didnt have to go short to drive the price down. All markets can lose value without a trade occurring. Remember the days reports were released while the grain market was closed? Locked limit down on the bell without a trade being made?? It is a daily occurrence for an assets value to change without a trade being made, value is always determined by the next buyer not the last one
