Just like I bought an inline wrapper and baled 40% of my wheat before the river got it. I lost 60% to the river and since I took this for hay I gave up a crip insurance payment on all of it. I could have easily just let the weather take it all and colllected a nice check but instead baled the highest dollar per bale hay of my career.
How would you feel if the government came along now and said they were going to pay out more money to the guys that didn't do anything and got their wheat flooded out, but you still don't get anything because you baled some of your wheat?
No one can fault a guy for his choices made with the rules that were given, but to change the rules today is going to penalize the guys that were trying to think ahead and protect themselves, and not wait for uncle Sam to bail them out. |
