To answer your question. I would not pay over 10 for the truck. Buy it right because you were going to spend some money on it to make it reliable. Yes you can bulletproof them to the best of your ability. However nothing is truly bulletproof. People are buying 60 and $70,000 trucks and they’re crapping out on them. If you are dead set on a 6.0 you need to find somebody that knows these trucks Before “bullet proofing” it. Wannabe and shade tree mechanic’s are 90% of the problem. They have recked more of these trucks than actually fixed. As far as getting these trucks to run correctly. You need head gaskets, studded & o ringed heads, ficm, deleted or bulletproof egr cooler. The most important thing Is keeping your fuel clean and keep your coolant changed regularly. If you do nothing else make sure to put a external coolant filter and oil filter on.

Do not let him put a programmer on this truck that just jacks with the timing! It will go but it will also blow! I buy them all the time for 3 or 4K apiece. Put a little money in them and you have a good truck With plenty of power for the farm. If you want to learn more about these motors go to YouTube and check out PowerStrokeHelp & DieselTechRon. They explain stuff pretty good. Good luck!
