NW KS/ SC ID
First truck for son? a 2wd regular cab gas half ton with a manual will teach him alot, and have minimal room for buddies for shenanigans. 2wd wont let him go pasture romping. Get a V-6 so he cant go fast either. Get a ford v-6 so he can barely go the speed limit... lol

That said, I have a friend that loves 6.0Ls, has had a couple over the years, and they are big Dodge Cummins fans, so if it were to be a big POS, they would be the first to complain.

#1 thing: delete the EGR

#2 thing: use it as a truck, not a car. VGT does not like coffee shop hour. vanes stick, then you hook it to a trailer, stuck vanes wont open, overboosts, pops head gaskets.

They have like 250K on a 06, finally wore the turbo out. EGR has been deleted since before they bought it at 170K, just runs and runs! I was at an auction and bid and bought for them a 05 with the less than common ZF6 manual. Only has 290K on the clock. :)
