For every 6.0 success story, there are ten 10,000$ repairs that didn't solve the problems. My buddies 6.0 contributed to bankrupting their company, tens of thousands spent on it and it still didn't do more than a few days work while they owned it. A young fellow isn't ready to play those sort of games.

I'm not completely unaware that these are less than desirable motors. However, while browsing the internet looking for a truck for my son, I came across an 06 F-350 with a 6.0 Diesel for $11k. Truck is 4x4 and leather. Has 120k miles with hardly any rust. Would this be a good first truck? What would I need to look for on one? With not very many miles, what will go out first? What all goes in one to 'bulletproof' it? Thanks for any suggestions and tips. He wants an OBS 7.3, but the money they want for one that isn't rusted out is outrageous. Have been looking at high mileage 6.4s as well.
