I do appreciate the honesty as to the 100 cow part as to where it financially gets to making sense to have your own equipment. Around those numbers is my plan in the next 5 years or so and honestly if I could get a custom guy here on time to put the hay up I wouldn't even consider any equipment. Unfortunately all of my custom guys that I could ask also farm and this year we are all too busy to go do much custom work.
In that case, get started today.
A 7 series or newer deer baler will make balage and a new 9' mounted, Agco, Heston, New Idea (all the same machine just not sure what they are calling them this year) would be a good balance between reliable and affordable. |
