NEMO | I'm guessing he's a lot further North than you suspect, so not the same country at all, he just confirmed that. While everything you said in the post is true, most of it won't apply to where he's at, almost won't apply here. You are in big grass country, not so much up here. Hay is gone, not to be had, actually the prices he quoted would be cheap over here. Some years you can buy hay cheap or leftover, but it's getting to be the exception rather than the rule. A 7 series Deere would work great for him, or a similar vintage Vermeer. If he lucks into the right baler, he could bale a lot of hay for not much actual cost.
