Interesting. I put new openers on every year as well and I have never had that level of success.
What kind of residue are you able to operate in up until it rains? Stripper header cut wheat stops me even if the residue is almost 2 years old. Last years corn stalks aren't as bad but get bad enough long before it's raining.
