We avoided the Paccar engines because they are proprietary and were supposedly designed for European cabover trucks. Thus the cam needs to come out the back sode and the air compressor is buried in the back of the motor. Dunno, we just heard enough to cause us to shy away from them.
Try removing the high pressure common rail fuel pump on an ISX 12 Cummins in a Freightliner - you'll be lifting the cab to do that job. Now stop to consider that you'd be far more likely replacing the fuel pump than the camshaft in pretty much any brand of engine. |
