Subject: RE: Ford Super Duty Diesel vs. Gas

SW Illinois
we have the the gas motor in our 250 and 350 dually. The 250 reg cab shows about 14 and the dually crew cab shows 11 MPG.

they don't do a lot of towing, but they handle a 20ft gooseneck with a 580M (16,000 lbs) backhoe just fine. Yes they down shift on hills and have to run some high RPMs to maintain good speed, but they do just fine. we've never had a diesel so i can't really compare them. I do know a diesel is way to expensive for a pickup and the truck body and frame will rot away long before either motor starts giving major issues.

we've got 5 years and 60,000 mile on them now and only issue is a starter is going out on one of them. Probably because the trucks get used as a UTV around the yard 8 months a year.
