Ne Nebraska
Thanks beefbiz!

550-600 heifers. Growing to 800-850 and then deciding to ship or finish, so not implanting yet. First attempt feeding calves here. Been cow/calf only.

So that ration contains no corn. As far as protein what % does a ration need to be? I’m feeding prairie hay40%/alfalfa60% ground mix be about 13.8% protein mixed according to tests done. The neg of hay mix around 34. Just trying to use alfalfa as protein source.

Let’s say I went 75% corn silage, 21% hay mix and 4% 40/20. That would put me at around 44neg and 10.8% protein. That sound right? I kind of like the looks of that. Add corn and remove hay as they grow to increase neg.
