And I'd like to compliment what Dan Loehr said above about VG Star fund. It's pretty unique and was actually my first venture into mutual funds years ago.
It has a low initial minimum, and is highly diversified. Stocks, Bonds, GNMA, International, etc. It's actually a fund of other funds. One of the good parts about this is that you have access to some funds that are currently closed to new investors. Including Primecap which is highly sought after.
