If you do convince your wife to let you fill it in, knock holes in the bottom of it first. A guy here just filled it with dirt, & in about a year it turned into a nasty swamp.


My pool is the economy model, you dig a hole and use a tarp as a liner, no concrete in the base so no hole to puncture just pull all tarps. Thanks for the suggestion however :-).


Would you happen to have more close up pictures of the tarp, how you hold it in place, etc? My kids are hounding me for a pool. I've got an excavator and thought about just digging a hole and tarping it like you've done.

Honestly, it scares me very much. Youngest daughter is 4. A drowning could happen too easy. But I thought with this approach, I could progressively make the hole bigger every year as their skills improve.
