I agree. That has been the way the private companies have operated, by selling the info. to make their business model work. Nothing wrong with that, whereas the USDA data is “free” (obviously taxpayer funded) but that leads into the question of public vs private Ag. data and who will control it.
We have for very, very long time have relied on public data from the USDA. IMO, I think it will remain public or we run the risk of the situation you are talking about. | |
