Rent is rent, no matter the land performance, unless there is some "fine print" in your rental agreement saying otherwise. I'm guessing it's the land owners not-so-subtle way of eluding to upcoming rental negotiations. Given the above average yields over recent years in the Midwest Corn Belt, i'm sure many landowners are wanting more of a share of it.
