No SAE bolts are way better then metric. 5/16 bolt = 1/2” wrench, 3/8= 9/16, 1/2= 3/4 5/8=15/16 3/4 = 1/18 ON BOTH SIDES with very few exceptions. 8mm bolt lets grab 13/14/15 and the nut? Maybe one of those sizes but maybe not and there is no rhyme or reason. Metric really is worse then the dreaded 9/16” bolt because going in at least you know you need two wrenches for the 9/16”


Yes, SAE. I can look at an SAE bolt/nut and know what I need for a wrench.
Metric? Grab a handful of metric wrenches- something in the handful will fit.
I've been around and used imperial measurements all my life (I'm 62). Metric is foreign to me.
