Whoever it was at CNH that decided to use 540 pto shafts on the combines and heads should be beat.
Thankfully they finally have seen the light and the new combines are using 1000 pto shafts.
Not sure that is seeing the light. Those shafts turn a lot closer to 540 than a 1000 rpm. I really have no problem with either size.
For the record, New Holland was running 540 shafts in the late 80's as terrain tracer/lateral tilt was already available at that point from them. Not sure any other company had that foresight.
Things that need to be standardized. Whats your list?
