CNY | We have certain relatives that have differing political and social views from us and are not open to other points of view. Early on I said "let's not get into this, we have plenty in common to talk about". If that doesn't do it you can not respond directly, just shrug and say something like "Whatever. Hey how's Uncle Bill doing?" Works pretty well for us. If that doesn't work for you, just keep to yourself and stay home the next time if possible. No point in getting everybodys' cortisol levels up. Also helps not to visit these people too often. Then you can find plenty of other things to talk about that have happened since the last visit.
