I like the Holiday get togethers, I like Thanksgiving more than Christmas, because it's about seeing long lost family, and eating.  I'm a Scrooge at Christmas, too much commercialism, too much gift giving and money exchanging hands, not because you want to, it's because you feel bad when someone gets you something and you don't return something.   I would greatly enjoy Christmas if it were more like Thanksgiving, and forgo the gift giving.  At least amongst the adults.
