South Central Kansas | If everything else is good in an alternator the voltage regulator senses the output voltage and puts more or less current to the rotor through the brushes to bring the voltage up or down. You may have a voltage regulator that is not working properly. You can full field an alternator [which means you put full current to the rotor to make it go to max output] which lets you know if it is the alternator or the regulator that is causing the low voltage. | |
