I don't know how well this would apply to your case but I had a similar screw in a scope mount on a rifle that I couldn't heat and it wouldn't come out. Someone else on another site suggested that I heat the allen wrench red hot and stick it in the set screw to heat the screw. Then I switched to a cold wrench and believe it or not, it worked and the screw came out. Might be something you could try on yours to heat the screw without melting the plastic.
