Subject: RE: How bad will it be to pick up 1,000 small bales?

Agree finding help was always my issue. Those that wanted to help had no experience stacking so I ended up loading wagons and they drove. Biggest day was loading and unloading 6 wagons around 750 bales of straw. Wagons were not huge but I always preferred stacking on the wagon rather than unloading. Always felt good seeing the wagons pulled up to the barn /elevator but realization that it was only the 1/2 point set in quickly.

Spent a lot of time unloading alone over the years. Throw 10 -15 on the elevator, stop, go up and stack, come back down repeat again and again.

Now it's simpler to sell out of the field and have it round or large square baled and picked up and loaded with skidloader.

Your really going to test each others patience and ability to work together picking up 1000 off the ground. There will be sharp words and questioning of each others sanity in doing it this way.  Find some wagons and at least bale part of it directly onto them if at all possible. 2 on a wagon is much better than 1 on the ground and 1 on the wagon.

That may require you pay the neighbor more since he will need to slow down some but at least the baler pushes them up onto the wagon in a steady fashion

I've baled small rough odd shaped patches for a neighbor onto the ground before. I ended up having to help pick them up (rain coming) as they were overwhelmed. I'll never bale on the ground again even if I have to provide the wagons and load them.

Be sure and post back with how it all went.
