Subject: RE: Rotational grazing in (almost) a rain forest....

NE Iowa
My cows are still on a winter rye field that will get seeded to sudangrass in a couple weeks. I haven't fed hay since first week of April but haven't grazed any of my permanent pasture yet so I could take similar pics. Tall headed out grass doesn't bother me. I consider it spring stockpile and I never clip it. If you keep rotating through it they will eat some of it each time. I don't understand why headed out grass is considered a problem in a pasture and needs to be clipped and wasted. But if in a hay field grass that is headed out and baled is considered good feed.
