Woodbury county | Iowa, the number one corn producing state in the nation, is looking more like the Louisiana bayou. Very little of the eastern half of the state has much corn planted and I doubt if this area is half done with corn planting.....have yet to see a field of corn that is up. We have received nearly 5 inches of rain in the past 5 days and more in our forecast along with below average temperatures. Not sure where Minnesota is ranked in corn production, but it has to be maybe fourth (?), and from posts on this site they are very far behind normal. Missouri, also an important corn producing state has been getting every rain system moving through....don't see how they have much corn planted. Went to Sioux Falls a couple of days ago and saw very little corn planted on our route. But with all of the delay in getting corn planted in the heartland of corn country, USDA says we are going to harvest the second best corn yield ever....... | |
