here in wyoming lots of hfrs being bred. most of these ranchers had to cut numbers by 1/3 during dry years so they are holding hfrs back. seeing people sell 100 strs and only 25 hfrs at local barn. USDA drought money finally came thru this fall so between 300 avg payment per cow and 1500 per str they can afford to hold hfrs back and their income doesnt drop at all. human nature is to cover the ranch back to normal numbers and when calf prices drop they will need the income. everything works out in the end. just like 8.00 corn lol



That sounds good and for the feeders sake I hope you're right, but what about all the ones that sold clear out and aren't getting back in? Will those extra retained heifers make up for all those missing calves?
