Lots of hill ground that could be pasture or hay is available for free or little to nothing. Most land owners just want something done with it and not incur the expense of bushhogging or mowing it. Gravel and river flats get more money but not even close to what you I states pay. And here is a rent chart and its less then 5 a acre for south West pa in a few counties.


Totally argree with CJD. There is ground rented for little to nothing her and some ground sets idle. From my numbers it does not pay to grow corn on the hills and it is tough to get big. Heck the Amish have been moving in and have pushed land up to $2000 per acre and many of the locals think it outrageous. Another thing what kinda shape is the pasture in, most around here are grown up and haven't seen ferlizer or lime in years!!
