North Dakota | This is happening in my area also. Until recently we just called the elevator, contracted x amount of bushels. They mailed the contract, you signed it and sent it back. A lot of times these contracts do not get sent back for weeks and I am guilty of it also. Well it only took a couple bad apples to change this. When the market is going limit up and the contract continues to lay there not signed people get ideas. Well someone claimed they never received it and never even made the phone call to sell the grain. We do not have a lot of options in this area to market our grain and I believe the manager assured this individual to never step foot in one of his elevators again if the contract was not signed and the grain was not delivered. My hat goes of to the manager. When grain is contracted now we must get them signed the same day. | |
