west central wisconsin | Within reason......cattle can be fed and bedded in a small area, and never clean up the pile. Once it is loaded up and hauled, it is a problem. LOL. Or get sick to your stomach because others in power have no common sense, or have their strings pulled by still others that have no clue.
We all care about our environment. Yes, some more than others, and we can all pick on the other guy when something seems well outside the accepted. We all know why rules exist; because some will always need rules, or it would be a cesspool. But by far and large, we all want to take advantage of the nutrients in manure and bedding, and want to spread those nutrients on land best suited on that day. Top spreading 6 months of manure the day of a 6 inch rain in May will have far worse ramifications than spreading on frozen ground a little at a time in the middle of winter, IMO.
It is a damn joke how filthy a feedlot can be and not be looked badly upon by current rules, and yet loading that manure up on a weekly basis and spreading it comes under scrutiny. And we should all be surprised | |
