Texas/New Mexico Stateline | So what would everybody rather have?
To be able to get some LP at $5 a gallon, with the higher price rationing demand so everybody can get some.
Or have the price at $2 because a bunch of folks heard about the shortage and filled up their tanks. Buying more than they really needed. Now there is none at the supplier.

Sounds to me like with the transportation of LP really strained right now, it is better to have a higher price so those folks that can get by for a few weeks won't demand their tanks are filled, leaving some supply for those that are out and really do need it. Sure, some are going to price gouge while they can, but most don't want to be caught with no supply and customers demanding more. Raising the price to discourage over demand may be what is happening in most cases. |
