| Shooting a dog is pretty bad but "pitbull" + "as a very excited Pitbull approached" + "the dog approached in an aggressive way" seems to be justification enough. I can't imagine what kind of safe shooting angle a policeman could have if the dog had actually jumped at some kid's throat.
I do agree that policemen may need better training to handle the situation, since guns have replace ironwood billies, but I don't know the particulars of this shooting to have any special opinion that matters.
