northern IL
I liked the idea of creep grazing your pasture too, but you won't get to sleep much because when i tried that all you here in the middle of the night is the cows looking for there calves and the coyote s looking for the calves without protection from mother s . It works better to buy a coral with a creep gate and put a calf mix of ground alfalfa and better boughten feeds. remember that anything you haul to the farm to feed helps the fertility of your farm . so when them grain farming nieghbors want to rent your farm away from you it will be worth top dollar . I forgot also earlier in my posting that im feeding 8 of my sons shorthorn cows that feed mix so its cheaper than $1.50 per day today s feeding ration
