Southern IA
7 ton of silage at $70/ton (10x price of corn at the bunker) = $490
3 ton of decent hay $200/ton ( pretty cheap) = $600

$1090, figure a 5 wt weaned calf is worth $850 and you haven't even paid for any feeding equipment, watering equipment, vet costs, yardage, time or fue. And feeding a lactating cow on that feed is going to be awful tough unless it has alfalfa hay that should really be valued at $300/ton.
