Marianna Arkansas
We are both in areas where crop land is much more valuable than pasture. I have been running my cows on way to little pasture in the summer and feeding them then. I can harvest feed cheaper than I can put them on enough pasture, I know I'll be jumped on and told I can't but not everyone is in the same situation and that's where you have to think outside the box. In the winter I run them on oats sown into cotton stalks and feed almost nothing then. They have plenty.
We are also running stockers and this year bought a TMR, I think I am going to add a feed lot next year since I have the mixer and we can build a yard pretty cheap out of old pivot pipe.
