Subject: Cooking/Buying for 1

Any tips on cooking for just yourself? I've had some changes in my life, and am struggling with figuring out the food end of things. I only eat once a day (supper), so having leftovers isn't so great when they last almost a week - like the Hamburger Helper I made. I figured out that after eating it for that long, I wasn't ready to make any more. Is it o.k. to put something like that in a Tupperware style container or Ziplock bag as soon as I make it and put it in the freezer?

Any other tips for buying food and cooking for 1? I do "o.k." cooking, just seem lost when looking at the grocery store and everything is super sized or family sized, and I don't know what to do to save it for later. Even things like lettuce or bread - I won't use them before they go bad. Would I be better off/cheaper/less waste to forget "cooking" and try to stick to heat-and-eat box meals and ham sandwiches?

Sorry for the elementary questions, just been lost on the best way to handle it.

Thanks
