New London, Wisconsin | Be sure to take advantage of the tourism bureau booths you will see in every state. All contain free maps, and brochures advertising places of business. The best ones have people that really know the area and can recommend great places to see and things to do to suit your taste and schedule. Your plans may change a bit along the way, and that's part of the fun. To me it's not just a trip, it's an adventure. Have a wonderful time. Disney is fun but few people stay in the park. We saw all 4 parks in three days. If aerospace is interesting to you, consider the NASA tours at cape Canaveral. There are so many historical sites along the way that a walk through some web sites ahead of time might help narrow the choices... and then there are the caves and... SO much to see.
If you think you'll be at a home base of sorts for a few days, an extended stay hotel can save you money and still be nice. They only clean the room when you leave, not daily, thus some savings. As someone above mentioned, paying enough for a room is prudent. The cheapest ones are dives. | |
