NW Iowa. / SW Arizona | Kind of agree with Tommy on this one. I've been married for over 35 years & very seldom have I given my my wife a present for Mothers day. I told her along time ago she is not my mother & it's up to our kids if they want to get or do something for her. On the other hand it has been a ritual for a number of years now that we always go to her mothers & all of her siblings show up & we do a number of things her mother would like done around her house or yard. She really appreciates this especially the older she gets. We spent over 7 hours there this past Sunday doing odds & in jobs for her. It didn't bother me a bit either, actually kind of look forward to it every year. I lost my mother 48 years ago to cancer so my MIL is really kind of like my mother to me.
On side note every year I tell me wife NOT to get me anything for me on Fathers day but she ALWAYS does. I truly wish she wouldn't, it would make me look better on Mothers day :-).
